Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation

The application of pulsating electrical currents to the body through electrodes creates a response from nerves, which can stimulate sensory fibers to block pain or stimulate motor fibers to activate muscle contractions. By utilizing various frequencies, electrical stimulation can provide the following:

  • Symptomatic relief of chronic, acute post traumatic or acute post surgical pain
  • Temporary relaxation of muscle spasm
  • Increase of blood flow to the treatment area
  • Prevention or slowing of muscle atrophy in post-injury conditions
  • Muscle re-education
