About back & spine pain
Degenerative Disc Disease is a common treatable condition that occurs with the normal aging process. As a disc dehydrates with age it loses its flexibility can lead to decrease in disc height. This can lead to spinal instability causing the spine difficulty in weight bearing and to provide normal function for patient. This degeneration can lead to bulging or protrusion of the disc and bone spur formation around the disc vertabrae complex. This condition is found throughout the spine but most common in neck and low back as there is more spine movement in those areas. Prolonged strain on the back from sports, frequent lifting and job requirements all can amplify DDD and cause an earlier onset of the disease.
